RYA Coastal Practical Course

The aim of the course is to teach the skills and techniques required to skipper a cruising yacht (for the sail course) or motor cruiser (for motor course) of 7 meters to 15 meters LWL, safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night.

  • Access card to Marina ablutions (on loan)

What you need to bring with you

  • Suitable clothing – layers are a good idea (T shirts, weatherproof jacket, baggies, long sleeve T-shirts, rash vests, tracksuit pants, jeans, flip flops and warm clothes)
  • 1 x Colour ID/Passport photo
  • Polarized Sunglasses, or you can purchase from our shop – From R800.00
  • Gloves, or you can purchase from our shop – R300.00
  • Sailing shoes or any soft-soled shoes (i.e., takkies or trainers)
  • Sleeping bag and a blanket
  • Sun cream, hats, towels and toiletries
  • Warm socks and a beanie
  • Extra money for food and beverages
