Experience and Minimum sea time : 50 days sea time
5 days as skipper
2500 Miles logged within 10 years prior to exam
5 passages over 60M, including 2
overnight and 2 as skipper
Form of Examination : Practical + Oral + Passage Plan
Certification required before examination : Copy of Restricted (VHF) Radio Certificate
Copy of Current First Aid Certificate
RYA application form and c/card details completed
Log book complete (sea time)
2 x ID photo’s (with name on back)
Minimum age : 18 years old
Minimum exam duration : 8 to 12 hours for 1 candidate

Candidates are examined on one of our yachts on the Langebaan Lagoon.

In the exam you will have to be able to demonstrate understanding of all aspects of the syllabus even if you have not had the opportunity to practice the entire syllabus.

Who is it for?

This is the qualification for you if you have the theoretical knowledge to skipper a yacht on coastal cruises but lack the experience needed to undertake longer passages.

RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Coastal Certificate of Competence or Yachtmaster Offshore

Exam fees

The exam fee payable by the candidate directly to the RYA via credit card is 190.00 or 225.00 These fees are not included in our course prices.

Please contact us for high and low season prices as well as current specials. If you make a group booking (3 or more people), you qualify for a group discount.

Accommodation

Free accommodation supplied on board your training yacht for the duration of the course (including sheets, pillows, fully equipped galley and cleaning products). The yacht is serviced once a week. WIFI voucher can be purchased from our office.

Food

Food is not included in the course fee, however, tea, coffee and sugar is supplied on the yachts. We also provide a nutritional menu plan (including shopping list) typically used when on the sea. We encourage students to cook on the yacht as part of the yachting experience & this helps to keep the budget down.

Travel Arrangements

If the need be, we can assist you in making arrangements to meet your transport and alternative accommodation needs. We make use of a registered shuttle service between Cape Town and Langebaan.

EVENING BEFORE COURSE STARTS (only by prior arrangement)

We can meet you the day before your course starts between 17:00 and 18:00 at our office. Please make arrangements with our office prior to your arrival.

THE MORNING THE COURSE STARTS

Please meet us at the Atlantic Yachting Office at the Club Mykonos Marina, Agora Square at 08:30. After the first day theory courses will commence at 08:30am and finish by 17:00.
